Finding Good Topics

Writer's block is unavoidable, it doesn't matter what it is you write about. Everyone gets it at one point or another but there are a few good ways in which you can avoid it from happening to you frequently. Many people go through good days and bad days of writing and when your on one of those bad days it can be exceedingly difficult to find any inspiration. If you find yourself in one of these slumps try turning to the customers or other people in your specific niche for the right inspiration.



Start by browsing through some forums that are related to your niche. Discussion forums usually work the best for generating ideas. These can be full of useful information and can usually give you a good lead on a topic. Use forums to find out what people are interested in most and use that to pull a topic from. Keep an eye out for the topics that appear the most or frequently asked questions.



Threads with a lot of replies and a good wave a visitors are the best ones to look at. You may also want to check out your competition, especially the ones that pull a lot of weight in your niche. The more popular forums and businesses in your niche usually have the best ideas.



Social networking is a perfect way to not only get to know others but can also warrant some great leads and topics. There are many different social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, each one having it's own unique elements to it. Staying in touch with these networks you'll find can always give you some great ideas as it's a very good way to get to know a lot of peoples interests.



If you're still scratching your head about what to write then look to yourself for the right inspiration. Look over topics you've written in the past and see if anything comes to your head. Or perhaps something in your own life that relates to your niche. The topics are out there you've just got to find them. Sometimes writer's block can't be avoided but you can at least keep yourself productive until something comes to mind. And who knows, you may stumble upon a very hot topic!



If all else fails then you're best bet is to look at the work you've already written. You may find inspiration where you least expect, it may even be a life experience of yours that relates to your niche. Look over the work you've already done and see if there's something you could expand on or a related topic that may stem from something you've already written. There will always be a topic out there to write about although sometimes it may take a little more work to find it. Even if you can't think of anything it always helps to keep yourself occupied while you think of one. Doing a little research on your own niche is never harmful and you may find some good inspiration along the way. With a little luck you may even find that next hot topic you were looking for.
