It is important to remember when using email marketing that your content must be accurate and informative. It should be proof read and grammatically sound. This will enhance your professionalism in the market place. Refrain from repeating the same phrases like "you must buy this now" because the word SPAM comes to mind and your email will be discarded. And if you send our an email filled with unrelated content, they would not even give you the time of day.

Because there is already such a lot of SPAM going around the world, people are resistant to any emails that they receive which is not absolutely targeted to their interests. Beware of the email lists for sale on the internet. These are not targeted and are random lists with email addresses which will be of no use to you.

Ensure that your mailing list be membership based, i. E. People should sign up to receive your email. Look at an off-line example. If you sell beach towels, to what market will you sell? Are you going sell your product to so someone who lives in the Arctic? So why would you do the same thing on-line? Should you have a website however, selling beach towels, you could then easily request your visitors to sign up to receive your news and forthcoming events of your business and of the latest trends in that particular industry.

You want to send your audience good solid information about your industry, something like trends and patterns emerging, or the newest product launched or better still, get them to interact with you on some level. This could be in the form of a poll.

To avoid your emails to be seen as SPAM, here are a few rules you should adhere to at all cost.

Avoid having your unsubscribe link go to another page where you also try to sell them something, your visitor will feel trapped and angry. This translates into you loosing your visitor forever.
